Bridges: How would you describe the current business ties between Japan and Indonesia and are these continuing to thrive?

Senda: Japanese companies have invested in Indonesia for decades, and the trust built over that time remains strong. What is changing is the pressure on their operations. Costs are rising, competition is intensifying, and headquarters in Japan expect faster and more accurate information from their Indonesian sites.

I have worked with manufacturers on B-EN-G’s mcframe software since joining the company in 2003, supporting global system rollouts and post-implementation operations from Japan, and since 2023 here in Indonesia. From that experience, I believe an important part of the next stage of the Japan–Indonesia relationship is helping the factories already here become more competitive.

That means knowing the true cost of each product and keeping inventory at the right level. It means being able to simulate costs and inventory when the future is hard to predict. And it means giving managers in Indonesia and Japan figures of the same detail and quality, at the same speed.

“Our vision is to become a ‘One & Only’ company. We specialize in IT solutions for Japanese manufacturers, built around ERP. For us, ‘One & Only’ means becoming the partner that customers continue to rely on as their operations evolve, and contributing to their digital transformation steadily and without shortcuts.”

As B-EN-G Indonesia continues to support clients across the country with their IT and digitalization requirements, what recent success can you share with our readers?

Since we were established in 2015, we have served more than 75 companies, most of them Japanese manufacturers. Most recently, we have taken on three projects in Indonesia with mcframe X, the B-EN-G Group’s cloud ERP for manufacturing. Delivering a system is not the goal in itself.

Our team works alongside the customer’s staff, from redesigning business processes to training the people who will use the system every day. mcframe X is designed to accommodate factory-specific requirements while allowing customers to benefit from regular upgrades.

Our work with PT. Tenma Cikarang Indonesia and PT. Tenma Indonesia Suryacipta shows what long-term support can achieve. Building on mcframe for production, cost management and accounting, we introduced mcframe IoT at the Cikarang factory in 2020 and later extended it to the Suryacipta factory.

Replacing handwritten production reports with automatically collected data improved reporting accuracy and reduced administrative work, and maintenance records became digital.

Their IT team has also developed its own subsystems connected to the ERP, and continues to expand and improve them every year. Go-live is not the finish line. It is where the customer’s improvement begins.

Indonesia is a fast-developing country, what challenges and opportunities does this present?

The biggest opportunity I see is in Indonesia’s IT talent. Information is far easier to access than before, and Indonesian engineers have built strong technical skills. With a large, young population, that talent pool will keep growing. This is potential we should make the most of.

The challenge lies in how projects are run. Teams here are often quick to adapt and try new ideas, which is a real strength. ERP projects, however, also demand careful planning and firm schedule control, as well as long-term thinking about quality, security and maintenance.

Balancing flexibility with that discipline is not easy, and it is where we can contribute most. Drawing on B-EN-G’s decades of experience with manufacturers, we work side by side with Indonesian engineers in our own team and at our customers.

AI is changing both how systems are built and how factories operate. Development is becoming faster, and the use of AI in manufacturing will keep growing. When AI is used to support business decisions, its value depends on reliable business data. That makes the quality of data managed in core systems such as ERP increasingly important. We already use AI in our own work, and one lesson is clear: “AI helps you build faster, but building well still depends on people.”

What does the future hold for B-EN-G Indonesia and what is your vision for the company’s role within the dynamic Indonesian economy?

Our vision is to become a “One & Only” company. We specialize in IT solutions for Japanese manufacturers, built around ERP. For us, “One & Only” means becoming the partner that customers continue to rely on as their operations evolve, and contributing to their digital transformation steadily and without shortcuts.

Ultimately, our goal is to contribute to Indonesia’s long-term development, and we see two ways to do this.

One is to strengthen the country’s manufacturing base, factory by factory. The other is to help Indonesian engineers deepen their expertise in building systems that last.

By 2030, we aim to double the number of companies we have served to 150 and expand our team significantly. As we grow, our priority is to strengthen support for customers and give Indonesian engineers more opportunities to take the lead.

This year, our team created an Indonesian version of the B-EN-G brand statement. Rather than simply translating it, we discussed together what we truly value.

The result was “Selalu Mendampingi. Pasti Ada Solusi.” — “Always by your side. There is always a solution.” What matters most is that our team made these values their own. That shared commitment is the foundation of the company we want to build.
