World Expos events bring together people and innovations from around the world in an effort to address issues facing humankind on a global scale.
The Osaka Expo 1970, Japan’s, and Asia’s, first ever, became a symbol of Japan’s rapid economic growth and one of the country’s most lauded events.
Twenty years after the Aichi Expo 2005, Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai will bring the international community back to Japan.
Nordics in Osaka
The Nordic Pavilion’s participation in EXPO 2025 Osaka Kansai marks the third appearance at EXPO, with both previous events also held in Japan, in Osaka and Aichi.
Despite being neighbouring countries with different cultures, languages, and customs, the five Nordic nations, Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden, are coming together to showcase their shared ideas and technologies in the fields of technology, innovation, and sustainability at the Osaka EXPO.
Pavilion Overview
Designed by Italian architect Michele De Lucchi and AMDL Circle, and build by RIMOND, the pavilion will be a 1,200-square-metre, 17-metre-tall timber structure that evokes timelessness and sustainable thinking.
It will house a Nordic exhibition area as well as a rooftop with a restaurant and a Nordic garden, in addition to other meeting spaces and a business centre. The joint pavilion at Expo 2025 in Osaka is an opportunity for the world to join the Nordic model of trust, sustainability and innovation.
Concept
The Nordic Circle brings together the five Nordic nations —Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden — to forge new connections and turn isolated ideas into grand innovations.
Transcending borders and creating something bigger than all of us, the Nordic countries are calling upon the global community to join them in their collective pursuit of progress. Today’s most complex societal challenges call for collaborative action to achieve impactful results.
Coming together, celebrating achievements, sharing learnings, asking questions and exchanging ideas allows us to build trust and work together to drive meaningful progress and sustainable success worldwide.
Nordic countries have many tried and tested solutions to share with new collaborators. Across some of society’s most important themes like the green transition and circular economies, lifestyle and well-being and mobility and connectivity.
The Nordic Circle brings together the five Nordic nations —Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden — to forge new connections and turn isolated ideas into grand innovations.
Together Towards a Better Future
The Nordic Circle is just the beginning of exploring solutions to these challenges together. Progress will take trusted partnerships and thoughtful action and success will require long-term commitment and continued cooperation.
Whether facing hardship or triumph, we are all united in our shared trust and confidence that the best way forward is together.
The Nordic Circle invites us all to aim higher than ever before, set our sights on greater goals and create a better future for everyone. Together Towards a Better Future.
