Japanese cuisine is well known for its balance of flavors, fresh ingredients and food prepared with careful consideration and artistry.
As a Danish-based importer and distributor of Japanese food and beverages, JANAX is dedicated to finding and importing the best possible products and strives to deliver quality products to consumers across the country.
To ensure a high level of traceability and food safety, the company focuses on importing high-quality products directly from the leading manufacturers in Asia, the USA and Europe.
The company’s extensive experience comes from having been in the market for more than fifteen years and JANAX employees are multinational, speaking Danish, English, Japanese and Chinese.
Authentic Japanese ingredients
Masaaki Ariga (former CEO of JVC Denmark and today Chairman of the Board of JANAX) co-founded JANAX with Jan Nakamura in 2004 after connecting through Copenhagen Business School.
That same year, the company began importing authentic Japanese ingredients directly from Japan to supply businesses in Denmark and neighbouring countries.
Last year, the Danish business community recognized the company’s success by honouring JANAX with a prestigious business award for its contributions to the industry and continued business growth.
Delivering the true taste of Japan
High-quality and fresh ingredients are the foundations of authentic Japanese cuisine.
As Japanese food continued to gain popularity in Denmark and across Europe, demand for premium suppliers also increased. Over the years, JANAX has established itself as a trusted supplier, ensuring that business owners and chefs can deliver the true taste of Japan.
Today, JANAX imports Japanese ingredients, along with knives, ceramics, kitchen tools and selected products from China and Korea.
In addition to Asian sources, the company also procures items from the USA and Europe with its diverse range of products supplied to restaurants, retail stores and supermarkets.
One of JANAX’s biggest challenges is logistics. Japanese ingredients are always freshly delivered and have strict production and expiration controls. However, these strict measures also reassures clients that the company upholds the highest standards and strictly follows regulations.
We are proud to have introduced Asian culture, cuisine and tastes to the Danish people for more than twenty years and we look forward to continuing our role within the country’s dynamic food and beverage industry.

A bridge between cultures
“The way to Danish hearts often comes through the kitchen and the stomach,” says Nakamura.
“We are proud to have introduced Asian culture, cuisine and tastes to the Danish people for more than twenty years and we look forward to continuing our role within the country’s dynamic food and beverage industry.”
Nakamura emphasizes that food is more than just sustenance; it is a bridge between cultures. JANAX will continue to bring authentic Asian flavors and culinary traditions to Danish and European kitchens.
By carefully sourcing ingredients and sharing culturally rich products, the company will delight palates while building a deeper appreciation for Asian heritage in Denmark and beyond.
