Established under the Act of the Incorporated Administrative Agency (Act No. 136, 2002), JICA is dedicated to promoting international cooperation and fostering the sound development of both Japanese and global economies. The Agency focuses on supporting the socioeconomic development, recovery, and economic stability of developing regions.

JICA is proud of its longstanding commitments and successful partnerships in the country more than 50 years. Key achievements include human resource development and contribution for industrial development .

One of our initiatives aim to enhance skills within Mexico’s key industries and strengthen the capacity of teachers and instructors of vocational training center, thereby better connecting students with the industrial market. With 1,500 Japanese companies operating in Mexico, our collaborative efforts are pivotal.

JICA is deeply dedicated to socio-economic development in Mexico, a nation known for its advanced industrial capabilities and robust business portfolio across various sectors.

Since 1988, JICA has played a crucial role in establishing the National Center for Disaster Prevention, which delivers comprehensive solutions for disaster prevention, earthquake monitoring, and flood control which are also important factors as business environment. We continue to engage in innovative projects, including scientific and academic collaborations to mitigate future disaster risk in collaboration with public and private sectors.

Economic Growth and Challenges

Mexico is experiencing healthy economic growth, currently at 3-4%. This growth is supported by an export-driven economy, with 90% of cars manufactured in Mexico being shipped to the USA.

The economic relationship with the USA remains a significant factor in Mexico’s economic landscape. The recent election of Claudia Sheinbaum as Mexico’s first female president marks a historic milestone for the nation.

Sustainable Development and Disaster Management

Mexico faces challenges related to water and energy, which are critical for sustainable development. The effective and efficient operation of the manufacturing sector is linked to the country’s ability to manage disaster prevention projects effectively. JICA is committed to helping protect both citizens and industries from the impacts of floods and earthquakes.

Support for Agriculture and Industry

In the southern regions of Mexico, JICA has actively supported local farmers. These efforts are essential to the country’s economy, highlighting our comprehensive approach to development assistance.
