Bridging the Confidence Gap: The Role of AI in Digital Innovation

At the PropertyGuru Asia Real Estate Summit 2024, Ornpaka “Tong” Vudhikosit, Senior Industry Manager for Travel, Real Estate, and eCommerce at Google Thailand, took the stage to discuss AI’s transformative potential. Highlighting Google’s latest multimodal AI model, Gemini, Tong demonstrated how cutting-edge technology is reshaping consumer behavior and decision-making.

“AI is only as good as the data it’s fed,” Tong emphasized, underscoring the critical role of high-quality inputs. With Gemini, Google has been testing advanced generative capabilities by analyzing images, reasoning about visual information, and helping users bridge the gap between what they think they know and what they need to know to make confident decisions.

Tong coined this dilemma the “Confidence Gap,” a growing challenge in today’s information-saturated world, where 15% of Google searches daily are completely new. Three-quarters of consumers report difficulty trusting information, leading to a greater need for brands that inspire confidence.

Tong outlined four ways AI can help bridge this gap: by enhancing knowledge, fostering creativity, enabling innovation, and being deployed responsibly. “Consumers are looking for something they can trust,” she said, emphasizing the value of industry respect and social proof in building stronger relationships.
