BLCCJ President Fabrice D. Tilot spoke with Bridges about fostering economic, commercial and networking interests between the three countries.

Bridges: How does the work of the BLCCJ bring Belgium, Luxembourg and Japan closer together?

Tilot: It obviously is our main goal, and we do so by organizing numerous events, either “business” or “social” oriented.

Social events range from casual monthly gatherings to the more formal year-end Gala with more than 250 attendants at a prestige venue, but also sports (running, skiing or golfing) events.

Business oriented gatherings include several lectures, seminars, webinars, encounters with Belgium & Luxembourg high ranked officials (Royalties and Government), and high-profile leaders of businesses in Japan.

We are very fortunate to enjoy an outstanding close cooperation and support from both Belgium and Luxembourg Embassies, and our regional representations in Japan.

With Belgium and Japan celebrating 160 years in 2026, how would you describe the relationship between the two countries today?

Ties between our countries are stronger than ever. Our respective Royal Families are very close since many generations.

During 2026 the 160th Anniversary will showcase, through numerous cultural, social and business events this outstanding relationship.

What does the future hold for the BLCCJ in 2026?

As 2025 with the Osaka World Expo has proved to be a significant milestone, 2026 and the 160th Anniversary will undoubtedly further widen and tighten our mutual relations. Our already strong presence in the pharmaceutical, chemical and F&B business is expected to expand to other sectors such as renewable energies, space, logistics and semi-conductor areas, out of others. Boosting and supporting start-ups is also among our priorities.
