Apac Tower: A strategic choice for Japanese firms in Bangkok’s emerging midtown

As Bangkok’s commercial center expands beyond its traditional downtown core, office demand is increasingly shifting along the BTS Sukhumvit transit corridor, where accessibility, flexibility and workplace quality now shape corporate location decisions.

Directly connected to BTS Ekkamai, Apac Tower forms part of Amata’s broader vision of integrated business environments beyond industrial estates.

At the heart of this evolution is Ekkamai — a traditionally prestigious Japanese district that has since been transformed into the primary anchor of “Sukhumvit-Midtown.” For more than 50 years, the area has served as a strategic business address, and today its direct transit links and mixed-use urban environment continue to attract multinational firms, particularly Japanese enterprises seeking both professional excellence and lifestyle convenience.

“Bangkok is undergoing a structural decentralization where the CBD (Central Business District) is no longer defined by a single core,” said Sirin Akaraphan, executive director at Apac Land. “Ekkamai offers a rare strategic combination of seamless connectivity and premium urban infrastructure that modern Japanese and international firms demand.”

That trend is reflected in Apac Tower’s tenant profile. Mazda Sales (Thailand) selected the building for its new headquarters, citing accessibility and workplace quality as pivotal to its relocation.

“Our vision was to develop Apac Tower as a new landmark of Sukhumvit-Midtown that sets a higher standard for future workplaces in Thailand.”

“Our new headquarters at Apac Tower represents a strategic shift toward a new way of working, designed around employee well-being, teamwork, talent attraction and organizational agility under Mazda’s ‘Joy Workplace’ concept,” said Thee Permpongpanth, president and CEO of Mazda Sales (Thailand). The move aligns with Mazda’s emphasis on sustainability, modern technology and human- centric design in adapting to the future of work.

Complementing Mazda’s presence, the building has become a vertical Japanese business community. Other tenants include Nichirei Corp., Sangetsu Corp., TPR Co. Ltd. and Toa Corp. These firms prioritize Apac Tower for its premium location and world-class operating environment.

Directly connected to the BTS Ekkamai station, Apac Tower is a Grade A+ office project designed for multinational corporations. The building has secured Fitwel 3-Star, LEED Gold and Wired- Score Platinum certifications, reflecting a strong commitment to health and well-being, digital information technology infrastructure and environmental, social and governance standards.

Apac Tower rises above Bangkok’s Ekkamai district, reflecting Amata’s expansion from industrial estate development into integrated urban real estate.

“Our vision was to develop Apac Tower as a new landmark of Sukhumvit-Midtown that sets a higher standard for future workplaces in Thailand,” Akaraphan said.

The project has since earned nine international property awards, including Fitwel’s Best in Building Health Award, reinforcing its role as the premier platform for Japanese firms operating in Thailand’s new business corridor.
