Cultivate friendship and ties between Japan and Canada

“Canada and Japan have a very strong relationship in various fields such as culture and education, business and economy. We share the same values and principles of democratic nations,” said Yuko Shimizu, Executive Director of The Japan Foundation in Toronto, Canada.

“The Japan Foundation, Toronto has been operating in Canada since 1990 and has introduced diverse forms of visual/performing arts and films, both traditional and contemporary and promoted exchange between Canadian and Japanese artists. We have also been supporting institutions of Japanese-Language education as well as teachers and learners across Canada and enhancing networks between Japanese Studies scholars through our fellowships and grant programs.”

“We will strive for further enhancement of our relationship by building upon our past and present activities, focusing on the younger generation and finding new ways to cultivate friendship and ties between Japan and Canada.”
