At the heart of This Time Tomorrow’s philosophy is a commitment to creating deeply personal and unique travel experiences. By combining beautifully renovated private residences with the expertise of local curators, the company crafts stays that transcend traditional tourism. Each residence is a masterpiece of design, meticulously curated to harmonize with the vibrant culture and rich history of its neighborhood.

Every trip is crafted to guests’ passions and curiosities, allowing them to live like locals and engage with the soul of a destination, immersing them in a journey less ordinary.

A Curated Stay in the Heart of the Medina

In the cultural heart of Marrakech, This Time Tomorrow offers an exceptional opportunity to discover the city’s treasures right at its doorstep. Located in the vibrant Kaat Benahid neighborhood—named after one of the first merchants to settle within its streets—this area has long been a bustling mercantile hub. Fondouks (historic inns) and hammams (ancient steam bathhouses) still operate, while the scent of spices and the vibrant colors of carpets and fabrics continue to emanate from the souks, giving the neighborhood its distinctive charm.

The House of Shadows

In the bustling Marrakech Medina, Riad Dar Al Dall (The House of Shadows) stands as a serene oasis of traditional elegance. Named after the Arabic word for shadows, it is defined by its tranquility and seclusion. Behind large wooden doors, sunlight filters through the Charbagh courtyard, where palms and a gentle fountain create a peaceful ambiance.

The five residences of Riad Dar Al Dall are housed in buildings restored to honor the architectural vision and historic craftsmanship of their surroundings. Each residence blends Moroccan craftsmanship with European design, inspired by historic adventurers and ’60s elegance. Featuring individually chosen elements such as mosaic fireplaces, intricate tile work, and wood carvings, every room possesses its own unique character with handcrafted fireplaces, elaborate frescoes, and reupholstered fabrics.

Thoughtfully designed to spark the imagination and enhance the stay, all residences emphasize both indoor and outdoor space and privacy. They are meant to be lived in, with grand dining tables and spacious bathrooms. Unique features like oversized bathtubs and heavenly skylights add to the charm. Interiors blend art and culture, showcasing curated pieces from antiques to modern design classics. Riad Dar Al Dall sets the stage for a personal story in Marrakech.

Spaces to Connect and Delight

Riad Dar Al Dall offers a suite of thoughtfully designed amenities that invite relaxation, indulgence, and connection. From the expansive terraces to the private spa and culinary delights, every feature is crafted to enhance your stay.

Spa and Wellness

The Riad’s own spa offers an elevated Hammam experience with signature treatments. Guests can indulge in revitalizing steam baths, refreshing scrubs, and soothing massages enriched with argan oil. Ghassoul clay, sourced from the Atlas Mountains, is applied as a mask after the scrub, drawing out impurities and nourishing the skin without causing dehydration. The private spa setting ensures a tranquil environment, with the option to book tailored treatments.

Our spa experience was exceptional. The black beldi soap used in the hammam provided a soothing cleanse, while the gentle steam bath offered a relaxing start. The revitalizing scrub, followed by the rhassoul clay mask, left our skin feeling incredibly refreshed. We particularly enjoyed the elevated Hammam experience, which included a luxurious sugar scrub and a soothing foot massage.

Dining

Dining at Riad Dar Al Dall is a delightful experience, whether enjoyed in the open kitchen or on the rooftop. Every morning, guests can savor a relaxed breakfast featuring seasonal fruits and Moroccan dishes. The kitchen, along with a well-stocked pantry, offers the opportunity to engage with Chef Zakia and her team in preparing traditional Moroccan meals.

A highlight of our stay was preparing Beef Tangia with Chef Zakia in the pantry. Tangia is a traditional Moroccan dish that is slow-cooked in a clay pot. The process involves placing the pot in a farnatchi, a traditional Moroccan oven, where it is heated by the embers from the fire used to heat the hammam. This method of cooking infuses the meat with rich flavors as it simmers in the hot ashes for six hours, resulting in tender and flavorful meat.

The kitchen is open for guests to join in preparing meals or to enjoy a menu of North African and Mediterranean classics, which change daily based on seasonal ingredients. Zakia’s meticulous care extended to preparing favorite dishes for the final meal, adding a personal touch that made the dining experience truly special. The round-the-clock pantry, stocked with treats for late-night cravings, ensures that guests always have access to refreshments. Starting the day with freshly baked pastries and Moroccan coffee from the pantry was a delightful experience.

Rooftop and Terrace

The spacious multilevel terrace at Riad Dar Al Dall offers spectacular views of the Medina, with vistas of minarets and the distant Atlas Mountains. The area is perfect for enjoying gentle local music by candlelight, watching the sunset, or finding a quiet corner under the canvas to reflect on the day’s explorations. Olive trees, blossoming flowers, and the tops of palm trees enhance the terrace’s charm. Sundown drinks on the rooftop were a highlight of the stay. The views of the setting sun against the skyline of the red city were spectacular, and the choice of drinks, from Moroccan mint tea to mojitos, made the experience even more enjoyable.

The small details at Riad Dar Al Dall truly enhance the experience. The personalized touches in the menu, the availability of a “Get Lost. Come Home.” address card, and the UV water filtration system for clean, safe water all contribute to a memorable stay.

This was followed by an immersive spice experience with Khalid, a knowledgeable local spice dealer. In the evening, we relaxed at Dar Dar, a rooftop spot offering great views and a laid-back atmosphere.
  • Thursday: We enjoyed a breakfast on the terrace and participated in a Tangia preparation workshop, culminating in a delicious dinner featuring the Tangia we helped make. We also experienced a luxurious spa session, including a traditional Hammam treatment.

Our final dinner at Riad Dar Al Dall was a highlight, featuring:

  • Courgette Zaalouk: A Moroccan salad with grilled zucchini, tomatoes, garlic, and spices.
  • Pommes de Terre Douces: Sweet potato.
  • Legumes Grilles with Salsa Romesco: Grilled vegetables with a rich salsa.
  • Tanjia Marrakchia: Beef shank slow-cooked in a traditional Tagia pot.
