Where power is unreliable, Ecozen makes every unit count

Ecozen Solutions builds technologies that make solar energy reliable where electricity is costly or unreliable. Its controllers channel power from solar panels to irrigation pumps, regulate motors and diagnose faults remotely, while its solar cold rooms keep produce fresh without diesel or chemical batteries, using thermal battery backup instead. The Pune-based company applies its power electronics, software and energy-management expertise to rooftop solar, home cooling and commercial energy management.

Founded in 2010 to tackle agricultural energy problems, Ecozen found its unforgiving real-world proving ground on farms. Farmers faced lost harvests and disrupted livelihoods when power failed, forcing its engineers to design around conditions customers actually experienced. More than 550,000 intelligent controllers are now deployed across challenging field conditions. Ecozen credits its technology with enabling 5.72 billion kilowatt-hours of clean energy and avoiding more than 4 million metric tons of carbon dioxide emissions.

“We design backwards from our customers’ real energy constraints, asking how to deliver more efficiency with fewer resources,” said Devendra Gupta, co-founder and CEO of Ecozen Solutions.

Japanese stakeholders have reinforced that method through their focus on precision, efficiency and continuous refinement. Ecozen says its field experience complements Japan’s engineering discipline and gives those principles practical force under demanding operating conditions.

“Where Japan brings engineering excellence, Ecozen brings the scale and field-proven deployment experience to make that excellence count at ground level,” Gupta said.

Ecozen has begun commissioning a new manufacturing facility and will introduce next-generation inverters designed to extract more clean energy while reducing grid dependence. Ecozen sees Japanese engineering and Indian deployment coming together to accelerate the India-Japan clean energy partnership.

“Decentralised energy will be one of the defining stories of the India-Japan partnership,” Gupta said.

Proven in India’s toughest fields, Ecozen’s technology carries the company’s ambition to build one of the world’s largest decentralized energy platforms, designed around real energy constraints facing farms, homes and businesses.
