The JCCII helps companies from India and Japan do business with each other more effectively by working closely with businesses and often engaging with both governments.
Since 2006, Japan Chamber of Commerce and Industry in India (JCCII) has worked as a pivotal organization working towards the welfare of Japanese companies in India.

Having started with around 100 member companies in 2006, today the organization has grown to a membership more than 640 companies mostly in and around Delhi NCR (National Capital Region).
Mr. Takeshi Seo, JCCII President for 2026-27 speaks with Bridges.

Bridges: Having recently arrived in India, what are your first impressions of the country and its people?
Seo: Having worked in Greece, Brazil, and Singapore, I have found that India, among these places, is the country with the greatest growth potential.
Not only is the climate intense, but many of the people who live here are also driven by a heated and enthusiastic passion. Combined with the country’s large population, these factors contribute to India’s strong economic growth.
With next year marking 75 years of India-Japan relations, how important is the economic relationship between the two countries?
The economic relationship between India and Japan, at a time when India has become the world’s most populous country, continues to achieve strong economic growth, and plays a central role in the ‘Global South’, is an indispensable element for the growth of both countries, especially as supply chain resilience has become an urgent priority for both countries.
“JCCII serves as a premier platform connecting Japan and India, fostering economic, cultural, and people-to-people exchanges while contributing to the sustainable development and mutual prosperity of both countries.”

During our Prime Minister Takaichi’s recent visit to India, the two governments strongly supported the deepening of bilateral economic ties, including the announcement of more than 120 cooperation documents between Japanese and Indian companies, involving investments on the order of JPY 2 trillion.
Against this favorable backdrop, I hope to see even greater development in economic cooperation between the two countries.

What role does the JCCII play in facilitating stronger ties between Japan and India?
JCCII serves as a premier platform connecting Japan and India, fostering economic, cultural, and people-to-people exchanges while contributing to the sustainable development and mutual prosperity of both countries.
By supporting member companies, promoting policy dialogue, facilitating business collaboration and nurturing future talent, JCCII strengthens the strategic partnership between Japan and India.
