A Vision of Morocco

Insights from Masahide Honda, Director of JETRO Rabat

Manufacturers, especially in the automotive and electronic fields are expanding their businesses in Morocco. Much of their investments are going into Morocco’s various free trade zones, which have also attracted companies from the service sector.

Interest, initiatives and investments towards a greener Morocco are growing. Morocco aims to source more than 50% of its energy from renewable sources, particularly wind, water and solar, by 2030. There are also some investments related to the production of electric vehicles. Japanese in related fields should be interested.

Morocco has free trade agreements with more than 50 countries and regions including with the EU, USA, Turkey, and Arabic Countries.  These free trade agreements make it easier for products being manufactured in Morocco to be exported into the world market.

I would like to introduce more Japanese businessmen to opportunities in Morocco and the North African region, matching them especially to start-ups across various growth industries.
