Hungary\u2019s growing global influence stems from the success of its export-oriented economy, a quality that has made it a trusted partner worldwide. This strength is underpinned by a model in which exports contributed nearly 88% of the country\u2019s gross domestic product in 2024. Building on this foundation, strong and well-functioning commercial alliances are not just beneficial, but essential to sustaining growth and competitiveness. Whether through premium food and beverage exports or cutting-edge technologies and digital solutions, Hungarian companies consistently deliver quality, safety, and ingenuity, values that resonate deeply with Japanese expectations. This commitment is reinforced by a spirit of shinrai, or trust cultivated through years of consistent dialogue, mutual visits and business fora that reflect both nations\u2019 dedication to deepening cooperation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In September 2025, a Hungarian business delegation visited Tokyo and Osaka. In collaboration with the Japan Business Federation, a successful Japanese-Hungarian Business Forum was held at Keidanren Hall, attracting more than 120 guests. The Hungarian Pavilion at the Osaka World Expo, designed by Zoboki Design & Architecture to celebrate the unity of landscape, culture and sustainability, hosted seven innovative Hungarian firms for a business seminar which was opened by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary, P\u00e9ter Szijj\u00e1rt\u00f3. Their forward-looking solutions in smart city development, ICT and sustainable design demonstrated how Hungarian creativity aligns with Japan\u2019s pursuit of a harmonious urban future. Furthermore, one of the key highlights of the business delegation\u2019s visit to the archipelago was the handover of Kuube\u2019s innovative solar-powered smart bench to Tokyo Governor Yuriko Koike, symbolizing how Hungarian design and engineering can integrate seamlessly into Japan\u2019s urban life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The steady participation by Hungarian brands at such events highlights the growing rhythm of bilateral engagement, underlining mutual dedication and trust. The enduring demand for Hungarian honey and Tokaj wines further shows that shared appreciation for authenticity can sustain long-term cooperation built on confidence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hungary\u2019s economic and strategic ambitions extend beyond agriculture. In June 2025, a seminar in Tokyo connected Japanese manufacturers and recyclers with a team of Hungarian engineers, targeting further collaboration after the venture\u2019s successful entry into the Japanese market through a multimillion-dollar deal last year. Such projects, along with ongoing ICT and cybersecurity cooperation, demonstrate a partnership where mutual trust drives technological exchange and concrete results, not just dialogue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Supporting these initiatives, the HEPA Hungarian Export Promotion Agency (HEPA) plays a pivotal role in maintaining momentum.
