Founded in 2012, MCSI is an integral part of the Humpuss Group, operating as a subsidiary of PT Humpuss Maritim Internasional Tbk. to ensure Indonesian seafarers meet global shipping demands. MCSI has also strengthened its international presence, notably in Japan, through a partnership with Mitsui O.S.K. Lines formalized in April 2024. This builds on the Humpuss Group\u2019s three-decade relationship with the global shipping company based in Tokyo\u2019s Minato Ward.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cOur partnership with MOL is dedicated to managing LNG (liquefied natural gas) carriers\u2019 seafarers under a joint venture scheme of collaboration,\u201d MCSI Director Johan Novitrian said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Moreover, with Japan facing an aging workforce and labor shortages, MCSI sees a chance to step up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis is a major opportunity for us. According to data from 2021, 14 sectors in Japan were in need of manpower, yet Indonesia was providing less than 1% of the required workforce,\u201d Novitrian said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

MCSI has received several awards from MOL. In 2024, MCSI \u2014 through the joint venture McMOL \u2014 was honored with the Excellence In-House Manning Award. \u201cThis is the first time we\u2019ve received this award, thanks to our zero accident achievement in 2024,\u201d Novitrian said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Beyond operational achievements, MCSI is committed to sustainability and digital transformation toward efficiency and environmental responsibility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe\u2019re continuously working to digitalize our processes through a paperless mandate while also reducing unnecessary electricity consumption, aligning with our goal of creating a healthy, safe and inclusive work environment,\u201d Novitrian said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As it expands, MCSI is preparing Indonesia\u2019s workforce for the growing demand for LNG vessels. \u201cWe have 12 Indonesian maritime schools under the government and many more under private institutions,\u201d he said. \u201cWe\u2019re asking them to support us in producing more Indonesian seafarers for LNG vessels.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
