Singapore with one of the world\u2019s busiest ports, and Denmark having one of the world\u2019s largest shipping fleets. Our countries are small open econo\u00admies, which have prospered by rely\u00ading on free international trade. It is no surprise that the maritime ties between Singapore and Denmark are strong and have the potential to grow further. With Singapore\u2019s strategic location and world-class business environment, Sin\u00adgapore is a \u2018home away from home\u2019 for the Danish maritime fleet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Now we are facing a new and chal\u00adlenging chapter in our joint maritime his\u00adtory, as we need to find ways to turn this blue sector green.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Singapore and Denmark have set ambitious goals for decarbonizing the maritime industry by 2050. The green transition is probably one of the great\u00adest challenges the maritime sector has ever faced, but it is necessary for our climate and for the world that we are handing over to the next generations. The maritime industry plays a large and important part in solving this challenge together with governments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is no surprise that the maritime ties between Singapore and Denmark are strong and have the potential to grow further. With Singapore\u2019s strategic location and world-class business environment, Sin\u00adgapore is a \u2018home away from home\u2019 for the Danish maritime fleet.<\/p>Sandra Jensen Landi<\/strong>, Ambassador of Denmark to Singapore<\/mark><\/cite><\/blockquote><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Moving the maritime sector from oil-based fuels to green fuels is a large and long-term undertaking. While we work on developing the needed technologies and supplies, we can also take immedi\u00adate action on reducing the energy con\u00adsumed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Energy efficiency is a Danish strong\u00adhold, and Danish companies are al\u00adready developing new technologies and digital solutions that are more energy efficient and ready to be de\u00adployed. Some examples are ultrasonic transducers that prevent hull growth and smooth coatings that reduce drag resistance that both enable more ef\u00adficient operation, as well as digital so\u00adlutions helping vessel owners operate their vessels more efficiently.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
