The company’s new slogan in Hungary ‘Reveal your artistic side’ resonates well with the artistic aspirations of amateur and professional camera users in the country.
Photo artist and brand ambassador Norbert Bánhalmi helped transform the brand by shifting marketing and communications efforts to focus on consumer engagement and education.
Some of the thriving digital platforms created include blogs like ‘Sent by you’ and ‘X Projects’, a free video course run by Olympus and a chance for photography enthusiasts to learn from Zoltán Nagy and László Lőrik. The platforms have enabled the company to successfully engage with the country’s photographic community.
Olympus also sponsored a photo contest for street photographers in Hungary and Bánhalmi carried Olympus when he became the official photographer of the Dutch football team that participated in the European Football Championship held in Budapest.
In the beautiful village of Tihany, Olympus joined forces with Samsung to create a digital art exhibition – a unique collaboration between the two brands not found anywhere else in the world.

Sailing enthusiasts have also been identified as a target audience and Olympus shot a short documentary about the most famous Hungarian sailboat and had a special online premiere to launch the film.
To tie in corporate social responsibility with community engagement, Olympus has begun working with the Hungarian franchise of Starbucks to raise funds to provide a brand-new ambulance for the Hungarian Child Rescue Foundation.
Olympus’ latest product, the E-P7 targets mobile photographers keen on experimenting with a small, well-designed camera that enables them to level-up on selfies and create visual art.
Most recently the company launched its new brand name: OM System.
“The Olympus brand has already gained recognition in Hungary. Now, we shall continue to work build, engage and educate our growing community of photographers as we shift to the all-new OM System brand,” concluded Berkesi.
